Indications

Benzathine Benzylpenicillin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by penicillin-sensitive microorganisms. It is particularly effective in treating Group A streptococcal infections, which can lead to strep throat, rheumatic fever, and post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis. It is also used in the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever in patients with a history of the disease, as well as in the treatment of syphilis and other spirochetal infections. The administration of Benzathine Benzylpenicillin allows for prolonged drug release, which facilitates infection control with a less frequent dosing regimen.

Composition

Each dose of Benzathine Benzylpenicillin 1200000 Units contains: Benzathine Benzylpenicillin as the active ingredient and necessary excipients for the formulation. Please refer to the packaging for more details on specific excipients.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to penicillins. Its use should also be avoided in individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions to other beta-lactam antibiotics. Its administration is not recommended in cases of viral infections or infections caused by penicillin-insensitive microorganisms.

Precautions

Precautions should be taken in patients with a history of drug allergies, asthma, or gastrointestinal diseases. Careful monitoring of patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency is recommended. Furthermore, it is important to perform sensitivity tests before initiating treatment in severe infections.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
