Indications

Tygacil is indicated for the treatment of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, as well as complicated intra-abdominal infections and community-acquired pneumonia in adults. Tigecycline is an antibiotic in the glycylcycline class, which acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, resulting in the death of susceptible bacteria. It is effective against a wide variety of gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria, including strains resistant to other antibiotics.

Composition

Each vial of Tygacil contains 50 mg of tigecycline, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tigecycline or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Tygacil in patients with a history of liver disease, as a dose adjustment may be required. It is also recommended to assess renal function before initiating treatment, as well as to consider the possibility of allergic reactions. Tygacil should not be used as empiric treatment in severe infections until the susceptibility of the pathogens involved has been confirmed.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Protect from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
