Indications
Takinox (Nitazoxanide) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by protozoa and helminths. It is effective in the management of diarrhea caused by Giardia lamblia and in infections by Entamoeba histolytica. It is also used in the treatment of infections caused by Cryptosporidium species and in the therapy of helminth infections such as Ascaris lumbricoides and Enterobius vermicularis. Nitazoxanide acts by inhibiting the pyruvate ferredoxin oxidoreductase enzyme, essential for the anaerobic metabolism of protozoa, resulting in the death of the parasite. This medication is for specific use in situations where the diagnosis has been confirmed by a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each Takinox tablet contains 500 mg of Nitazoxanide as an active ingredient. It also contains excipients that guarantee the stability and efficacy of the medication.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitazoxanide or to any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency as the metabolism of the medication may be affected.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, as well as in those who may experience allergic reactions. Medical monitoring is important in case of adverse reactions. Its use during pregnancy and lactation must be evaluated and supervised by a physician.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
