Indications
Rifadin is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections, especially in infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is used as part of the treatment regimen for active tuberculosis in combination with other antimicrobial agents. It can also be used for the prophylaxis of meningococcal meningitis in people who have been in close contact with infected individuals. Its use is indicated in infections that require long-term treatment, and it should be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each capsule contains 300 mg of rifampicin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow for the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
Rifadin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rifampicin or to any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver diseases, as well as in those who are undergoing treatment with medications that interact with rifampicin and may cause serious adverse effects.
Precautions
Special care should be taken when using Rifadin in patients with liver diseases, as well as in those with a history of antibiotic allergies. Adequate monitoring of liver function is important during treatment. In addition, it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment, as it may increase the risk of liver toxicity. The doctor should be informed about any other medication the patient is taking to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
