Indications
Rapivir is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by herpes viruses, including oral and genital herpes, as well as for the treatment of chickenpox and herpes zoster. This medication works by interfering with viral DNA replication, which helps reduce the duration and severity of outbreaks. In addition, it is used in the prevention of cytomegalovirus infections in organ transplant recipients, as well as in reducing the transmission of the herpes virus in infected patients. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions for proper use and recommended dosage.
Composition
Each tablet contains 500 mg of Valacyclovir as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Rapivir is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Valacyclovir or to any of the excipients of the medication. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment, as it may increase the risk of toxicity. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of neurological disorders.
Precautions
Renal function monitoring is recommended in patients treated with Rapivir, especially in those with risk factors. In case of neurological symptoms, treatment discontinuation should be considered. Furthermore, caution should be exercised in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and it should only be used under strict medical supervision.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
