Indications
Rapivir is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by herpes viruses, such as genital herpes simplex and oral herpes. It is also used to prevent recurrent herpes episodes in patients with a history of frequent infections. Additionally, it is recommended for reducing virus transmission in infected patients. In prophylactic use, it has been shown to reduce the frequency of herpes episodes in immunocompetent individuals. It is important to follow specific medical instructions to determine the appropriate duration and dosage of treatment for each patient.
Composition
Each Rapivir tablet contains 500 mg of valacyclovir as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation and administration of the medication.
Contraindications
Rapivir is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valacyclovir, acyclovir, or any of the components of the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment without appropriate dose adjustment. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless the benefits outweigh the risks, and always under strict medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Rapivir to patients with a history of kidney disease, dehydration, or those receiving treatments that may affect kidney function. Regular medical monitoring during treatment is essential to assess kidney function and adjust the dose if necessary. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure and use sun protection, as the medication may increase sensitivity to sunlight.
Storage
Store Rapivir at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children and do not use the medication after the expiration date indicated on the package.
