Indications
Posipen is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to dicloxacillin. It is particularly useful in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections, bone and joint infections, and urinary tract infections. Furthermore, it is used in the treatment of bacterial endocarditis and as a prophylactic in surgical procedures in patients at risk of infection. Dicloxacillin is effective against staphylococci, streptococci, and some strains of gram-negative bacilli.
Composition
Each capsule contains: Dicloxacillin (500 mg) and excipients: starch, talc, gelatin, among others.
Contraindications
Posipen is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dicloxacillin, other penicillins, or any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or in those with infections caused by microorganisms not sensitive to dicloxacillin.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal insufficiency, as the dosage may require adjustment. Additionally, it is important to evaluate its use in patients with a history of pseudomembranous colitis, as antibiotic use can alter the normal intestinal flora. During treatment, monitoring of liver and kidney function, as well as the appearance of adverse reactions, is suggested.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
