Indications
Minocin is an antibiotic of the tetracycline class, indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is used in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and conditions such as acne vulgaris. It can also be used in the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to minocycline, including some strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis. It is important that the use of Minocin is based on the susceptibility of the microorganism causing the infection and the patient's clinical evaluation.
Composition
Each Minocin tablet contains 50 mg of minocycline as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Minocin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to minocycline or any of the components of the formulation. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, due to possible adverse effects on the fetus or infant. In addition, its use is contraindicated in patients with severe liver diseases and in those with systemic lupus erythematosus.
Precautions
Special precautions should be taken in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease or those who are being treated with other drugs that may cause hepatotoxicity. Liver and kidney function should be monitored during treatment. Additionally, exposure to the sun or UV light sources should be avoided, as minocycline can increase skin sensitivity to light.
Storage
Minocin should be stored at room temperature, in a dry and cool place, protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
