Indications
Merrem (Meropenem) is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. These include lower respiratory tract infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated urinary tract infections, and sepsis. It is effective in treating infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as anaerobes. This antibiotic is commonly used in hospital settings, especially in immunocompromised patients or those in intensive care. It should only be administered under medical supervision to ensure proper use and minimize the risk of bacterial resistance.
Composition
Each ampoule contains 1 g of Meropenem, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration. It is important to check the leaflet for a complete list of components.
Contraindications
Merrem is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Meropenem, other carbapenems, or any component of the formulation. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics, given the potential for cross-reactions.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate patients' renal function before administering Merrem, as a dose adjustment may be necessary in those with renal impairment. Patients should also be monitored for the possible appearance of adverse effects and treatment efficacy. In cases of severe diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered. It is essential that the use of Merrem be guided by a physician who evaluates the risks and benefits in each particular case.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep away from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
