Indications

Lincocin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by lincomycin-susceptible microorganisms. These infections may include, but are not limited to, skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis, as well as bone and joint infections. It is effective in treating gram-positive bacterial infections, especially those resistant to other antibiotics. Lincocin is also used in cases of penicillin allergy, where an alternative antibiotic is required. It is important to perform a culture and sensitivity tests before starting treatment to ensure the efficacy of the medication.

Composition

Each Lincocin capsule contains 500 mg of lincomycin, as well as excipients necessary for the capsule formulation.

Contraindications

Lincocin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lincomycin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of antibiotic-associated colitis, especially pseudomembranous colitis, and in those with severe hepatic dysfunction.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with gastrointestinal diseases, as well as in those with a history of colitis. Hepatic and renal function should be monitored during treatment, especially during prolonged regimens. In case of gastrointestinal symptoms, such as severe diarrhea, the possibility of antibiotic-associated colitis should be considered, and treatment should be discontinued immediately.
