Indications
Lievricin-D (Doxycycline) is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections susceptible to this antibiotic. Its use is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as in the treatment of vector-borne diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and typhoid fever. It is also used in the treatment of acne vulgaris and in malaria prophylaxis in areas where resistance to other antimalarials is common. Doxycycline works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria.
Composition
Each capsule of Lievricin-D contains: Doxycycline 100 mg. Excipients: corn starch, gelatin, titanium dioxide, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to doxycycline, other antibiotics of the tetracycline family, as well as in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It should not be administered to children under 8 years of age due to possible adverse effects on dental development.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of esophagitis or gastrointestinal problems. Doxycycline can cause photosensitivity; therefore, direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided or adequate sun protection should be used.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
