Indications

Klaricid OD 500 mg, whose active ingredient is clarithromycin, is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis and pneumonia, as well as skin and soft tissue infections. It is also used in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infections in combination with other medications, for the eradication of this bacterium in patients with peptic ulcers. Its antibacterial activity is due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria, which results in the cessation of their growth and reproduction.

Composition

Each Klaricid OD capsule contains 500 mg of clarithromycin as an active ingredient, in addition to excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.

Contraindications

Klaricid OD is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clarithromycin, to other macrolide antibiotics, or to any of the components of the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency and those who are being treated with certain medications that can cause adverse interactions.

Precautions

It is recommended to use Klaricid OD with caution in patients with a history of liver or kidney diseases. It is essential to evaluate the risk-benefit ratio in patients with cardiac arrhythmias, as clarithromycin can prolong the QT interval. During treatment, the appearance of adverse effects and the patient's clinical response should be monitored.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
