Indications
Keflex (Cephalexin) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. This includes, but is not limited to, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as urinary tract infections. Cephalexin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which results in bacterial death. It is particularly effective against strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, among others.
Composition
Each Keflex tablet contains 500 mg of cephalexin, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
Keflex is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalexin, other cephalosporins, or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to penicillin-type antibiotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis. Careful monitoring is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency, and the dose should be adjusted if necessary. The administration of cephalexin during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated by the treating physician.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
