Indications
Keflex (Cephalexin) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations, such as: upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, as well as urinary tract infections. This antibiotic is effective against gram-positive and some gram-negative organisms, being useful in the treatment of infections caused by Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, among others. The use of Keflex is recommended for patients with infections susceptible to cephalexin who do not respond adequately to other antibiotics. Administration of this medication must be carried out under strict medical supervision to ensure its efficacy and minimize the risk of bacterial resistance.
Composition
Each Keflex tablet contains 1 g of cephalexin, as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
Keflex is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or any component of the formula. In addition, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other antibiotics, as well as those with severe kidney disease, due to the possibility of drug accumulation and associated toxicity.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with a history of colitis, as it may increase the risk of developing pseudomembranous colitis. Likewise, it is important to monitor kidney function in patients receiving prolonged treatments. In case of adverse reactions, the need to discontinue treatment should be evaluated.
Storage
Store the medicine in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
