Indications
Gecifhil (tigecycline) is indicated for the treatment of complicated bacterial infections of the skin and skin structures, as well as complicated intra-abdominal infections. Its use is appropriate in patients with infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including those resistant to other antibiotics. This medication is especially useful for the treatment of nosocomial infections and for patients in whom resistance to other antibiotics has been documented. Tigecycline acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, leading to cell death.
Composition
Each Gecifhil ampule contains 50 mg of tigecycline as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the proper formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Gecifhil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tigecycline or any of the excipients in the formulation. Furthermore, its use in patients with infections caused by non-susceptible organisms, or in infections where a more specific alternative treatment is required, is not recommended.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Gecifhil to patients with a history of liver disease, as a dosage adjustment may be required. Likewise, it is important to assess the patient's renal function before starting treatment. Patients should be monitored for adverse reactions, and proper follow-up should be maintained during treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
