Indications

Gabirol is indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of influenza A virus infection. It is especially useful in patients with initial symptoms of the disease, as well as in preventing associated complications. Gabirol administration can be beneficial in patients at high risk of developing complications, such as those with chronic respiratory diseases, immunodeficiencies, or in geriatric populations. Generally, treatment should be initiated within the first 48 hours of symptom onset to maximize its efficacy. Additionally, it can be used during influenza outbreaks where rapid intervention is required to prevent the spread of the virus.

Composition

Each 100 mL of Gabirol contains: Rimantadine 5 g, excipients: purified water, hydrochloric acid, among other inactive components.

Contraindications

Gabirol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rimantadine or any component of the formula. Its use should also be avoided in patients with severe kidney or liver disease without proper medical supervision.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of seizures, as well as in those receiving treatment with other antiviral medications or antidepressants. It is important to assess renal and hepatic function before initiating treatment. Gabirol should not be used as a substitute for the influenza vaccine.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
