Indications
Flagyl Ovules is indicated for the treatment of vaginal infections caused by protozoa and anaerobic bacteria. It is primarily used in the therapy of bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis. Its action is effective against the microorganism Trichomonas vaginalis, as well as in infections by Gardnerella vaginalis. Additionally, it can be used in the management of mixed infections in the genital region. It is important that the use of this medication be indicated by a healthcare professional, who will assess the need and duration of treatment.
Composition
Each ovule contains: Metronidazole 500 mg as active ingredient, plus excipients necessary for the formulation of the product.
Contraindications
Flagyl Ovules is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metronidazole or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use should also be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy and in cases of severe liver disease. Its use is not recommended in patients who have pre-existing neurological damage, as it may worsen these conditions.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with neurological disorders, as well as in those with a history of liver diseases. Medical follow-up is recommended during treatment, especially in elderly patients or those with multiple comorbidities. In addition, alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment and for up to 48 hours after its completion, as it can cause adverse reactions. It should not be used in combination with anticoagulants without medical supervision.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
