Indications
Flagyl Minibag 500 mg is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial and parasitic infections. It is used in the management of gastrointestinal tract infections, gynecological infections, central nervous system infections, as well as in the prophylaxis of postoperative infections. It is effective in the treatment of infections caused by anaerobes and protozoa, such as amebiasis and giardiasis. Metronidazole works by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis in susceptible bacteria, leading to cell death.
Composition
Each minibag contains: 500 mg of metronidazole as active ingredient. Excipients: water for injection, hydrochloric acid, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metronidazole or any of the formulation components. It should not be administered in the first trimester of pregnancy, unless considered strictly necessary by the physician. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver diseases or pre-existing neurological disorders.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, neurological disorders, or those who consume alcohol, as metronidazole can cause adverse reactions. Liver function monitoring is recommended during prolonged treatments. Its use in combination with oral anticoagulants is not recommended, as it may increase the effect of these medications.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children.
