Indications

Flagenase is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to its action, including bacterial and protozoal infections. It is particularly effective in the treatment of gastrointestinal tract infections, gynecological infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as in the treatment of amoebiasis and giardiasis infections. Furthermore, it can be used as part of the treatment for pelvic inflammatory disease and as prophylaxis in surgical procedures where deemed necessary. The combination of metronidazole with diiodohydroxyquinoline enhances its antimicrobial effect, offering a broader spectrum of action.

Composition

Each tablet contains:
Metronidazole: 400 mg
Diiodohydroxyquinoline: 200 mg

Contraindications

Flagenase should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula or to other nitroimidazole derivatives. It is contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation, as well as in patients with pre-existing neurological diseases. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of neurological disorders and in those with liver diseases. It is important to perform adequate follow-up in patients who present neurological symptoms during treatment. Alcohol consumption is not recommended during treatment due to the possibility of adverse reactions.
