Indications
Denvar Suspension is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to cefixime. It is used in the management of respiratory tract infections, including otitis media, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis. It is also effective in urinary tract infections and in some cases of acute diarrhea caused by bacteria. Cefixime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the death of pathogenic bacteria. It is important to make an adequate diagnosis before initiating treatment and to evaluate the susceptibility of the microorganisms responsible for the infection.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains 100 mg of cefixime as cefixime trihydrate, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medicine.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefixime, other cephalosporins, or any of the formulation components. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Renal function monitoring is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency. It can alter intestinal flora, which may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. In case of severe diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Once opened, use within 14 days to ensure product efficacy.
