Indications
Denvar is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to cefixime. These include: upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis, as well as acute otitis media. In addition, it is effective in the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis. Due to its broad spectrum of activity, it is also used in the treatment of gastrointestinal infections and in some cases of skin and soft tissue infections. It is important to note that the selection of Denvar should be based on the susceptibility of the pathogen involved.
Composition
Each Denvar capsule contains 400 mg of cefixime and excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
Denvar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefixime, other cephalosporins, or any of the components of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate renal function before starting treatment with Denvar, as the dose may require adjustment in patients with renal insufficiency. Likewise, it is important to monitor for the appearance of diarrhea, which may be a sign of pseudomembranous colitis, a serious complication that can occur with the use of antibiotics. The use of Denvar is not recommended for viral infections, such as the flu or common colds.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
