Indications
Denvar (Cefixime) is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by strains susceptible to this antibiotic. These infections may include: lower respiratory tract infections, such as bronchitis and pneumonia; ear, nose, and throat infections, such as otitis media and sinusitis; urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis; and uncomplicated gonorrhea. Cefixime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in the death of susceptible bacteria.
Composition
Each Denvar capsule contains 400 mg of cefixime as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as starch, talc, and gelatin, which are used for the capsule formulation.
Contraindications
Denvar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefixime, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any of the excipients present in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to antibiotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Denvar to patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis, as antibiotics have been reported to alter normal intestinal flora. In addition, renal function should be assessed in patients receiving prolonged treatment. Clinical monitoring is recommended to detect possible adverse reactions.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
