Indications
Cefuracet is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to cefuroxime. These include upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. It is also used in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections, as well as urinary tract infections. It is effective in the management of otitis media and in prophylaxis of post-surgical infections. Cefuroxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in the death of susceptible bacteria.
Composition
Each 5 ml of Cefuracet suspension contains 250 mg of cefuroxime axetil. Excipients: sorbitol, xanthan gum, raspberry flavor, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any of the formulation components. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other antibiotics.
Precautions
It is recommended to use Cefuracet with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis. It is important to monitor renal function, as cefuroxime is primarily excreted by this route. In case of severe diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.
