Indications

Cefuracet is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to cefuroxime. These infections may include, but are not limited to:

  • Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis, otitis media, and pneumonia.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Urinary tract infections.
  • Bone and joint infections.
  • Gynecological infections.

The medication works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death of susceptible pathogens.

Composition

Each Cefuracet tablet contains 500 mg of cefuroxime axetil as the active ingredient. It also contains inert excipients.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any of the components of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to penicillins.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with renal insufficiency, as a dose adjustment may be required. Additionally, it is recommended to periodically evaluate renal function during treatment. In case of severe diarrhea, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
