Indications

Ceftrex is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections, including:

• Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
• Urinary tract infections.
• Intra-abdominal infections.
• Skin and soft tissue infections.
• Infections in immunocompromised patients.
• Surgical prophylaxis to prevent postoperative infections.

Ceftriaxone acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the death of susceptible bacteria.

Composition

Each vial contains 500 mg of ceftriaxone, in addition to excipients such as sodium chloride, water for injection, and other inactive components.

Contraindications

Ceftrex is contraindicated in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone or any of the excipients.
• Neonates with hyperbilirubinemia, as it can displace protein-bound bilirubin.
• Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in the following cases:

• Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis.
• Renal or hepatic insufficiency, as dosage adjustment may be required.
• Pregnancy and lactation; benefits and risks should be evaluated.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
