It is used for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where there is inflammation of the esophagus due to contact with stomach acid. It is also indicated for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics, as well as for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, and for the prevention of ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in patients at risk of developing gastrointestinal complications.
