This medication works by inhibiting the intestinal absorption of cholesterol, resulting in a decrease in LDL cholesterol levels and an increase in HDL cholesterol levels. It is used in adult patients who require additional cholesterol reduction, as well as in those who have not achieved their lipid goals with adequate diet and exercise.
