It is used in patients with a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30 kg\/m², or greater than or equal to 27 kg\/m² in the presence of obesity-related comorbidities, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or dyslipidemia. Its action is based on appetite suppression, which contributes to weight reduction, thus facilitating the control of obesity-related risk factors.
